Wherever you are based, our expertise is never far away. We are the only UK business school with a presence in five global hubs. All of our centres have strong links with the local business community and we also have a global network of over 60,000 alumni, spread across 176 countries.

Our Global MBA provides the opportunity to study electives at our global centres to help grow your global network.

Professional service bodies

Over many years, Alliance MBS has developed particularly strong links with a number of leading professional services bodies:

The School has worked closely for many years with ACCA, the global body for professional accountants. For instance our Dubai centre, which is an ACCA Approved Learning Partner in the Middle East, was recently recognised for its outstanding continuing professional development work by ACCA.

The Manchester Accounting & Finance Group at Alliance MBS is at the forefront of research into the global accounting profession and has built up links with all leading global bodies. The President of the ICAEW recently addressed the School about the changing role of the ICAEW in the international and regulatory arena, while alumnus Bob Herz is a member of the Financial Reporting Faculty Advisory Committee of the ICAEW.

The outstanding reputation of Manchester Accounting & Finance Group (MAFG) at Alliance MBS has been regularly recognised over many years by awards given by BAFA. MAFG is unique in having had four academic staff awarded the BAFA Distinguished Academic Award given to an individual who has made a substantial and direct contribution to UK academic accounting and finance life.

The School has built up a globally recognised centre for research into the workplace and has particularly close links with the CIPD, the professional body for HR and people development. Professor Sir Cary Cooper, 50th Anniversary Professor of Organisational Psychology and Health at Alliance MBS - and one of the country’s most distinguished voices on people management - is the current President of the CIPD.

Pro Manchester is the largest business development organisation representing the financial and professional sector, and the wider business community, across the North West. In particular Alliance MBS has sponsored the Great Manchester Economics Conference for the last two years with academics speaking at the event. The subject of this year’s conference was how to further develop Manchester’s economic and business links with China.

Alliance MBS has worked with the Chamber on a number of research projects. Most recently the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIoIR) launched the Manchester Innovation Forum with the Chamber to provide a platform for engagement between the business community in the region and the research excellence of MIoIR. The most recent event considered how companies in Manchester might embrace innovative practices in developing their international business.

The International Compliance Association (ICA) is the leading professional body for the global regulatory and financial crime compliance community. Since 2001, it has enhanced the knowledge, skills and behaviour of over 150,000 professionals from all over the world either through their internationally-recognised portfolio of professional qualifications (awarded in association with Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester), or through accredited in-company training.

CLT International (CLTI) delivers education and training to professionals in the private wealth and investment funds industry. Offering a series certified qualifications and on demand learning in trusts, estates, and fund administration, CLTI is the primary partner for STEP, the worldwide professional association for those advising families across generations. Since 2007, CLTI and STEP qualifications have been awarded in partnership with Alliance Manchester Business School.

Corporate organisations

BT is a Strategic Talent Partner of Alliance MBS. Their Group Cost Transformational department were looking to develop their managers in order to give them the general management skills required to move into senior management roles. We have welcomed employees from BT on the Manchester Global Part-time MBA for a number of years.

We are currently working together to design and deliver a new joint programme for clients which focuses on an innovative approach to learning and development in the workplace. The Continuous Improvement Programme has been developed in a unique collaboration which brings together BT’s proven operational experience of delivering enterprise-wide transformation, with the School’s academic insight.

Each programme that the team delivers takes the proven Continuous Improvement framework and adapts it to the specific issues and challenges of each organisation.

ZESCO Limited is Zambia’s largest integrated utilities company focused on energy generation, transmission and distribution. A government owned company - ZESCO Limited employs around 5000 employees and generates an annual turnover of 2.3 Trillion Kwacha (equivalent to USD460m).

In 2012 ZESCO Limited identified a need for a management development programme to help develop some of the organisation’s top engineer’s general management competencies to ensure their staff are equipped with the necessary skills to deliver on its strategic needs.  With ZESCO Limited’s key drivers being in the fields of strategy development, project management, innovation and financial management, a MBA qualification was seen as a viable option.  Manchester Business School was in a unique position to be able to offer it’s internationally renowned Manchester Global MBA through a delivery model that allowed staff to continue to work full-time, with classes delivered in Zambia, with our faculty going over there 3 times a year to teach the MBA students and also delivering half day masterclasses for their senior management.

Ingersoll Rand are a global manufacturer of compressed air systems, tools and pumps to material and fluid handling systems and environmentally friendly microturbines.  With such a diversified offering coupled with their global presence they have partnered with Alliance Manchester Business School for a number of years to offer the Manchester Global MBA as an option on their IR MBA Leadership Development Programme.

NHS

Alliance MBS – working in a consortium led by KPMG and including The University of Birmingham, Leo Learning, Cumberlege Eden and Partners and others – together with the NHS Leadership Academy, have co-created and are co-delivering two of healthcare’s largest ever professional leadership development programmes.

The Elizabeth Garrett Anderson programme is for mid-level leaders aspiring to a senior role, and the Nye Bevan programme is for senior leaders preparing for executive and Board level roles. These programmes have already seen over 3000 NHS staff take part.

Across both programmes the consortium has created a unique and innovative blended learning experience, combining virtual and residential study, to create a learning environment that directly addresses everyday NHS leadership challenges.

Feedback from programme participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with a string of awards, and intense international interest.
