Zoe Disselkoen, an MSc Organisational Psychology graduate, recently spoke to us about why she chose to study at Alliance MBS, her career since graduating in 2018 and advice for potential students on the course.
Why did you choose Alliance MBS?
"I chose Alliance MBS because it is one of the best of a handful of UK business schools with an MSc Organisational Psychology programme. I felt that being embedded within the business school, the curriculum and professors would be closely linked to the real world of business and organisations, which was certainly the case at Alliance MBS."
How has your career developed since graduating?
"I joined the Management Consulting (Operations) Graduate programme at Arup, a leading multinational professional services firm which provides design and advisory services across the built environment. I’ve been with Arup ever since, going on 4 years now, advising our clients on the People & Organisation aspects of running large, complex infrastructure projects and operations. I work with a few of my Alliance MBS peers at Arup, some of whom joined a bit further on in their careers."
What advice would you give to anyone considering the Psychology course?
"I’d say go for it! While studying psychology, I’d recommend reaching out to the diverse network of the University's alumni to find out about the myriad ways psychology is applied in the world of work. My current psychologist colleagues work with diverse applications, ranging from team effectiveness and collaboration, user experience design, organisational resilience and wellbeing, to designing environmental sustainability strategies around the people within organisations. It is a very exciting time to be a psychologist at the moment."
