Life at the bee-hive

Hello! My name is Vedanth Murali, and I am pursuing my Masters in International Business and Management at the Alliance Manchester Business School. A little bit about me, I guess you could call me a melomaniac! I love listening to music, especially the compositions of AR Rahman. I love experimenting with the tech aspect of various albums as well! Additionally, I am passionate about sports as well – be it football, basketball, or table tennis, I love them all as it helped me build my sportsmanship and build lasting bonds.

Before joining AMBS, I worked as a tax analyst at EY. I got the opportunity to assist in representation services and assessment proceedings before legal councils. Through this brilliant course at AMBS, I am aiming to add to the skillsets I gained through working in a well-renowned consultancy firm and expand my professional horizons. Coming from a country like India with abundant vibrancy and culture, September 2021 was a landmark month of my life as my hard work and dreams turned into reality and I moved to Manchester, a place filled with history and known for being the heart of manufacturing and trade during the industrial revolution. The campus truly gave me the feeling of hardworking worker bees bustling with activity and aiming to create a better working world.

The first few weeks weren’t easy at all! It was quite overwhelming to juggle setting up my new home and attending classes while missing my home back in India! Something which cheered me up was the set of friends I made along the way. One of my closest friends in Manchester is my neighbour who is always there for me – be it cooking a meal or helping me with my essay or by just being thereby providing me a shoulder to laugh or cry on! While the city is filled with beautiful buildings, the place I probably spent most of my 3 months was the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons. I was always motivated to see a room full of people from different backgrounds and cultures working on their respective subjects. It always pushed me to work harder and aim bigger!

There have been many magical moments for me at Manchester – from seeing the floating Earth at Salford to posing with Ronaldo at Old Trafford to touching my first snow at Whitworth Park to enjoying a nice bowl of Maggi in my kitchen, it’s all about creating moments to cherish!
