Dion Prayoga from the MSc Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship class of 2021 talks about a visit to Bruntwood SciTech.
What did you learn during your visit?
“At Bruntwood SciTech, we listened to a presentation about innovation and the innovation ecosystem in Manchester. Manchester will become one of the most important innovation ecosystems like Silicon Valley. The University of Manchester will be at the centre of this with an incubator, start-up accelerator and many other facilities for starting a new business.
"We walked through the Circle Square campus, which provides offices and spaces for start-ups to work growing their business with complete and beautiful furniture. Entering and seeing this area motivated us to start our own start-ups.
"We also listened to a presentation from Start-up Factory, which helps start-ups with technology development, and a presentation from Qsustain, a sustainable solution company born at The University of Manchester. We learned how to begin a start-up and how we grow it.”
Did the presentation link to a particular part of your course?
“Yes, it was linked to many lectures on our course, especially about the place of innovations. We learned theory about how the needs of the University, government and enterprises connect and collaborate to improve innovation in an area or city. By attending this visit, we have experienced how it was carried out in Manchester.
"Overall, this visit gave us engaging experiences and necessary pieces of knowledge that certainly will help us after we graduate.”
