I asked my classmates some of the usual questions that I had when deciding to come study at the University of Manchester to share their answers with you.
Maria Vallejo
Where are you from and what did you study in your undergrad?
I am from Tenerife, a small island from Spain with the best culture, people and food. In my undergrad I studied Business Administration.
What do you like the most about living in Manchester?
The people. Manchester is a multicultural city where you can find any kind of person. The same happens with the social life is Manchester. You can think of anything you want to do/go and you will find it in Manchester. All sorts of clubs, international food, theatres, gigs, concerts, outside activities. There is a place for anyone and everyone here!!!
Why did you choose to get your Masters' in the University of Manchester?
There is no doubt that AMBS has an amazing and impeccable reputation, academic and research wise. However, this was not the only reason why I chose to come and study here. The professional network it has is huge: well-known multinational companies (such as) have a close relationship with the different Schools. I knew that the second I will finish my course, I would be offered many different opportunities, which would help me, find the right career for me.
Norberto Cossotto
Where are you from and what did you study in your undergrad?
I am from Turin, Italy. During my undergraduate I studied Business Administration with a focus on marketing during the third year.
Why did you choose the MSc in International Business and Management
I choose the MSc in International Business and Management after I took part on the Erasmus Programme in Poland during the last year of my bachelor. The opportunity to live such an international experience helped me to realise what I was really interested in, that is business in international contexts.
What do you like the most about the university?
What I like the most about the University of Manchester is undoubtedly its facilities. The completely restructured Business School, the several brand new libraries, and generally the buildings in the campus, they are all really cosy and often open, sometimes during the night too!
Nino Struik
Where are you from and what did you study in your undergrad?
I am from the Netherlands and I have studied as an undergrad in Pharmaceutical Business Administration.
Why did you choose the MSc. in international business and management?
As we all know, the Pharmaceutical- and Healthcare industry are very international and by doing this MSc program, I am able to increase my knowledge about doing business within an international environment. With the combination of my BSc and MSc, I am able to make a bigger impact within a company and the quality of life of patients in the end.
How do you balance work (study) and life?
Tough question… An MSc is much more challenging than a BSc in my opinion, although, you learn so much in a short time-frame. This degree asks a lot from you, but it will be worth it in the end. In the past, I have been an elite athlete and Judo on a high level within Europe, due to this, I have always been planning my week in advance, so I was able to train, study, work etc. By using these developed skills it is doable to study and doing activities that give me energy. I strongly believe that you can do multiple things on top of your degree, but it is all about your own motivation. For example, last November I have competed within a bodybuilding/fitness competition where I became second and gained a PRO-card. Until today, I am still hitting the gym twice a day. I always say: 'If you want something bad enough, make sure you do everything to get it'
