Engineers in Business Fellowship (EIBF) announced today that Alliance MBS has been added to the list of approved schools for the Sainsbury Management Fellows Scholarships for engineers and scientists.
The Sainsbury Management Fellows Scholarship programme was founded in 1987 by Lord Sainsbury of Turville. He hoped that learning business skills through world-class MBA studies would help engineers to set up their own high-tech businesses or progress to the top of large UK companies.
Sainsbury Management Fellows (SMFs)
More than 400 engineers from the programme have graduated from top international business schools. These graduates, known as Sainsbury Management Fellows (SMFs), have created over 300 new companies worth almost £5 billion - along with more than 21,000 jobs in the UK.
EIBF will award 16 engineering and science MBA scholarships each year. The charity has also announced that it's opening up the application process to applicants who have not yet secured a place at business school. Successful scholarship candidates will be able to apply to business school with the knowledge that they have financial resources.
Applicants must be UK nationals currently living in the UK and must have completed a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) with a target score of 650+.

Enhancing the diversity of the Full-time MBA
Ken McPhail, Head of Alliance Manchester Business School, said: "We are delighted to join the list of approved schools for the Sainsbury Management Fellows Scholarship. This partnership reinforces our commitment to equipping engineers and scientists with vital business skills, helping them to drive innovation and leadership within their industries. The scholarships will provide invaluable support to our students and further enhance the diversity and talent within our Full-time MBA programme."
Marie Dutordoir, Full-time MBA Director at Alliance Manchester Business School, said: "The inclusion of Alliance Manchester Business School in the Sainsbury Management Fellows Scholarship programme is a significant achievement. It reflects the world-class quality of our MBA and the unique opportunities we provide to engineers and scientists. We look forward to welcoming talented individuals who will benefit from this scholarship, and who will undoubtedly go on to make a considerable impact in their industries."
David Falzani MBE, President of EIBF, said: "We are excited that this will be a boost to social mobility and support those brightest of candidates who would benefit from the SMF programme but are less financially confident. It also means we can offer mentoring and MBA application support for those who wish to enter a top school. Given that this will increase the number of applicants, we also require that a GMAT must be taken before applying to the scholarship, in order to demonstrate commitment to an MBA."
