Northern Power Women (NPW) is a collaborative movement to accelerate gender diversity from the North of England.
Founded in 2015 by Simone Roche MBE, the organisation has worked with a range of businesses and role models from many different sectors including finance, hospitality, education and the media, to encourage and support gender equality and inclusiveness.
This year, Alliance MBS is sponsoring the NPW Awards which will be held on 8 March, International Women’s Day. These awards are a way of ‘reflecting on the last five years of empowerment and shining a light on the change makers of 2020’. It is an opportunity to amplify voices and support emerging female talent from the North of England.
At Manchester, we have a rich history of supporting causes and research that strive for equality.
British suffragette Christabel Pankhurst (daughter of Emmeline, the founder of the movement) is an alumna of the University and today we are led by Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, President and Vice-Chancellor, with Professor Fiona Devine leading Alliance MBS as Head of School. We are proud that we have always been pioneering and boast an impressive list of female firsts in Manchester.
