Congratulations to AMBS professors Frank Geels and Javed Siddiqui who are both named by Thomson Reuters in this year’s prestigious list of Highly Cited Researchers.
The list includes scientists and social scientists who have demonstrated “significant influence” through the publication of multiple highly cited papers over the last decade.
Researchers are selected for their exceptional performance in one or more of 21 different research fields, and this year fewer than 7,000 - or about 0.1% - of the world's researchers have earned this exclusive distinction. In total this year’s list includes 19 academics from The University of Manchester.
Research relevance
Frank Geels, Professor of System Innovation, appears in the list for the fourth year running. He said: “I am very pleased to be included in the list which represents an acknowledgement of the importance of my research topic, low-carbon transitions, and the relevance of my research results which other scholars find useful to cite and build upon.
“It’s also good for AMBS and The University of Manchester as highly cited researchers are one indicator in the Shanghai ranking of world universities.”
Multi-disciplinary
Javed Siddiqui, Professor of Accounting, added: “This is an acknowledgment of the multi-disciplinary nature of my research. It also indicates how accounting and finance research has evolved over the years to explore important issues such as violations of human rights and the consequences of modern slavery, especially in supply chains in developing economies.
“Our research also now explores the impact of climate change and the need to reconsider the boundaries of audit to make it a more socially relevant function.”
