Professor Sir Cary Cooper CBE, 50th Anniversary Professor of Organisational Psychology & Health at the School was last week honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award from Educate North.
On the eve of his birthday, Sir Cary was described as an "exceptional academic, communicator and ambassador for the sector" having wrote and contributed to more than 150 books in his career.
The Educate North & UK Leadership Awards, now in its third year hosted more than 250 academics, students, executives and business people from across the north and UK to celebrate the growing knowledge sector in the region.
On receiving the award, he said: "It's a privilege to receive such an honour from Educate North, who I believe are a fantastic organisation that recognises all sorts of education excellence in the north of England. Education is such an important part of all of our lives and these awards help to focus everyone on the cultural, social and economic impact it has in the region and country."
Sir Cary, who is one of the UK's leading specialists in workplace and organizational psychology, and is a former Deputy Vice Chancellor of UMIST, now offers his knowledge, in his trademark absorbing manner, to the public through media outlets on a range of everyday topics.
