Alliance Manchester Business School, together with The University of Manchester’s Centre for New Writing, hosted a poetry competition for students at local Whalley Range and Levenshulme High Schools.
Part of Business in the Community’s Business Class Partnership, this is the latest in a long list of initiatives Alliance Manchester Business School has developed for the local high schools, supporting the University’s commitment to social responsibility.
The competition was launched and supported by our Chancellor Lemn Sissay. PhD students from the Centre for New Writing spent weeks mentoring the students, providing support and encouragement to pen their own poems and enter them in the competition.
The initiative culminated in a celebration event and awards ceremony here at the University in July, where the winning students performed their poetry.
A video celebrating the initiative has been launched today - National Poetry Day.
