Professor Mario Kafouros has been appointed as Chair in International Business and Innovation, starting January 2019. Working in the People, Management and Organisations (PMO) Division, Mario will be using his expertise in global innovation and international business as well as his senior leadership experience at Universities and research centres, to contribute to the division and School.
Professor Kafouros was previously Chair of International Business and Innovation at Leeds University Business School and is Associate Editor of the journal of International Business Review (IBR). He is also the former Head of the International Business Department at Leeds University Business School and was responsible for the Research Excellence Framework (REF) of the Faculty.
On his appointment and his interest in international business, Mario commented: “I’m impressed by the University’s and School’s emphasis on high-quality research, education and real-world impact. I look forward to contributing to Alliance MBS’s world-leading reputation by using my experience in global innovation and international business and strategy.”
Head of People, Management and Organisations, Professor Sharon Clarke, welcomed Mario to the School, saying: “Mario has a broad level of knowledge both academically and in the field of international business that will benefit Alliance MBS. We look forward to working with him and his expertise in international business, strategy, electronic engineering as well as global innovation will no doubt be a boon for the School.”
Professor Kafouros also served as a member of the Faculty Executive Group and as a member of the Impact Committee in the University of Leeds. He is the elected Secretary of the Academy of International Business for the UK and Ireland (AIB UK&I) and sits on its Executive Committee.
