Ever had an idea that you think could make a successful business and have real-world use or societal benefit?
The Alliance MBS Ignition Funding Opportunity 2017-18 is now open for those who want to make their idea a reality and join the long list of enterprising innovators associated with the School.
Funding of up to £2,000 is available, for individuals to try out or grow their entrepreneurial ideas. This might mean finding out if their idea is viable, learning more about what is needed and trying the project on a small scale right through to more robust road testing of the idea.
The Innovation Optimiser team will also be providing informative lunchtime workshops and one to one sessions to support applications.
School PhD student, Sabrina Mistry, received a £500 award to help pursue her passion for animation and ambition to contribute to social gaps. By creating custom animations, Sabrina hopes to celebrate diversity, as she explains:
“I want to live in a world where there is better representation, acceptance, and appreciation of diversity. This is delivered by inspiring and reaching out to all areas of society and showing them what animation can do for them, and vice versa. The animated short clips are a great method of communication which promote awareness and understanding of others.”
The funding opportunity provided by UMIP (The University of Manchester Intellectual Property team) and MEC (Manchester Enterprise Centre) is open to all AMBS recent graduates (graduated within the last two years), members of staff and research students (Inc. DBA, MBA).
