Torsten Bell, Director, Resolution Foundation: Renewing the Intergenerational Contract: age and 21st Century inequality
Thursday 9 February
5.45pm-8.00pm
Alliance Manchester Business School East
In July 2016 Resolution Foundation launched its flagship Intergenerational Commission that brings together leading experts from the business, academia and public policy to consider how government, business and wider society can fix the contract between generations that underpins our society.
A structural widening gap in income and wealth between the younger and older generations poses new challenges to achieve a fairer and more egalitarian society and a sustainable economic welfare.
As the Director of the Resolution Foundation and a Commissioner on the Intergenerational Commission, Torsten will discuss the living standards of different generations from the post-war Baby Boomers to today’s Millennials and the challenges that follow from housing to the world of work.
Audience Q&A will be facilitated by Ismail Erturk, Director of Social Responsibility and Senior Lecturer in Banking at Alliance Manchester Business School.
Torsten Bell joined the Foundation in September 2015 as Director. Prior to this, he was Director of Policy for the Labour Party and worked in the Treasury, both as a special adviser and a civil servant.
There is no charge to attend this lecture but places are limited and advance booking is advised.
