Auditing, Assurance and Corporate Reporting
The corporate world is plagued with recurrent accounting and auditing scandals. Public audits consistently reveal how public spend could be used more effectively and efficiently. These recurrent failures make clear that audit, assurance, financial and corporate reporting are all in need of substantial reforms.
Following the collapse of Carillion in January 2018 and other more recent high profile corporate failures, there was intense public and political scrutiny of the audit market and of the accounting profession itself, leading to a number of inquiries into the future of audit in the UK.
At CAIR our members and affiliates continue to play a substantial role in influencing the future of auditing, assurance and corporate reporting to make sure that we move the debate form discussing measurement of purpose to the purpose of measurement and its relevance for both economy and society.
