How to apply for the Global Executive MBA

The final application deadline for January 2025 entry is Friday 29 November 2024.

Stage 1: Prepare your application

The application process requires you to prepare a number of elements before you can submit. It's important to submit a complete application.

Key parts of the application that require time and attention include:

  • Choosing a work-related reference - let your reference know they'll receive a reference request directly from AMBS when you submit your application
  • Preparing your CV or resume
  • Gathering your degree documents - including English translation if applicable
  • Gathering your supporting evidence if you don't have a degree
  • Preparing an essay question about your senior leadership experience.

Your professional reference

You'll need to ask someone to act as your referee. They should be someone you have worked closely with. You'll then need to add the contact details for your referees in the application form - use their work email, not their personal email.

After you've submitted the application, your chosen referees will receive an automated email with log-in details for our online reference system.

Your referee will need to complete and submit the reference online. This will then upload directly into the university admissions system with your other application documents.

Stage 2: Apply through the university application portal

You'll need to register for an account and select to apply for the Global Executive MBA. You don't need to complete the application form right away - you can save your answers as you go.

Before submitting your application form, you'll need to include:

  • The essay question - you can prepare this in advance and copy and paste it into the application form
  • Your CV or resume
  • Your degree or professional qualification documents
  • Your supporting evidence for APL if you do not have a degree
  • One work-related reference
  • Your Manchester Admissions Test (MAT) result.

You should only submit the form when you have a complete application.

Apply through The University of Manchester Application Portal.

Stage 3: Take the admissions test

After submitting your application and supporting document, all candidates will be invited to take the Manchester Admissions Test (MAT). You don't need to take the MAT if you already have a valid GMAT®, Executive Assessment or GRE® score.

The Manchester Admissions Test (MAT)

You can complete the MAT online at home, in your office or anywhere with a good internet connection. You'll need to complete three short assessments - verbal, numerical and logical. They take around 45 minutes to complete and you don't need to prepare.

We'll provide you with a log-in and password to take the test after you submit your MBA application. The invitation to take the test will come from notifications@talentqgroup.com. Add this email to your contacts so you don't miss the invitation.

Stage 4: Interview

Once your application is submitted, we'll review your application form and documents, and admissions test. If you're successful in our initial review, you'll be invited for an interview.

Your interview will be held online and last approximately one hour. We'll send the date and time of your interview to you by email.

The interview is an essential part of the application process and is an opportunity for you to expand on information provided in your application form and CV. You should demonstrate how your background and experience has prepared you to contribute to the programme.

Stage 5: Final decision

You'll be notified of the outcome of your application within a week of the interview taking place. Decisions are made by the consensus of the MBA Admissions Committee.
